Face Masks Required by Governor Inslee When Social Distancing is Difficult Effective Friday June 26th

The state of Washington will require the wearing of facial coverings beginning Friday.

Governor Jay Inslee announced the public health order at a press conference Tuesday in Olympia.

The order, officially coming from state Secretary of Health John Wiesman, requires Washingtonians to wear a facial covering when indoors and in public, as well as outdoors and in public when social distancing becomes difficult or impossible.

At the press conference Wiesman disclosed exemptions from the order, including children under the age of two, people with “certain disabilities or health conditions,” and people who are deaf or have hearing difficulties.
