(Walla Walla, WA) – The Port of Walla Walla will be accepting applications for the Working Washington Small Business Grants 2.0 beginning at 9 am on Tuesday, September 22nd. The program is intended to support For-Profit Businesses and Non-Profit Business Service Organizations with less than 20 employees that have been impacted by the COVID-19 emergency and to help prevent the closure of their business or service organization. Funding for Working Washington 2.0 is passed down from the Federal Coronavirus Assistance, Recovery and Economic Security (CARES) Act, to the Washington State Department of Commerce. In Walla Walla County, the program will dedicate approximately $175,000 in grants to small for-profit businesses with a maximum grant amount of $2,500 per business. An additional $10,000 will be allocated to support non-profit business service organizations (i.e. Chambers, Direct Marketing Organizations, Tourism Bureaus, etc) for grants of up to $2,500. Grant money can be used to assist with a variety of expenses related to the impact of COVID-19. Eligible applicants must have businesses located in Walla Walla County, have 2-20 employees, be established prior to January 1, 2020, and be in compliance with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries laws.
