Construction Alert: SR 125 Resurfacing

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 6, the Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews started paving sections of State Route 125 in Walla Walla from The Dalles Military Road to the Oregon State line. Crews will start along the south end of SR 125 and work their way north towards the intersection of The Dalles Military Road, SR 125 and Plaza Way (the roundabout).

Crews will be working on SR125 in various capacities over the next several months both during the day and nighttime hours. Please be aware that only certain sections of the roadway will be affected at any given time.

This work will provide a smoother ride for drivers and extend the life of the roadway. In addition to paving, crews are improving sections of the adjacent sidewalks and making crosswalks ADA accessible.

What to expect when paving work starts
• Drivers will experience single lane closures.
• Drivers should prepare for reduced speed limits throughout the construction zone.
• Construction crews will be on site day and night.
• Sidewalks and bike lanes will be closed during construction.

As with any project, drivers must exercise caution through our work zones. Traveling at slower speeds, having patience and obeying warning signs and flagging operations benefits all users of the roadway and ensures everyone’s safety
